Horizons is a forum for interdisciplinary, intercultural studies of humanities. Our primary goal is to generate intellectual dialogues between and across traditional boundaries of knowledge and culture; we also seek to redefine, transform, and conflate such boundaries. Papers on social sciences and natural science, as well as on literature, history, philosophy, and arts, are welcome to us as long as they contribute to the discursive diversity of humanities. In the dynamic space of discourses we envision, the past and the present cross at a vantage point and the East and the West converge and diverge to create an ever-widening circle of knowledge and truth.
The inaugural volume of Horizons is now in print. Contact subscription@horizons.or.kr for complimentary copies, which are available on a limited basis. Scheduled to be published in December 2010, the second volume will feature the special topic of “Travel and Translation: Writing China after Matteo Ricci, 1600-1800.” Contributors will include Jeng-Guo Chen (Academia Sinica, Taiwan), Laura Hostetler (University of Illinois at Chicago), Jongtae Lim (Seoul National University), Eun Kyung Min (Seoul National University), Catherine Pagani (University of Alabama), Chi-ming Yang (University of Pennsylvania), and Qiong Zhang (Wake Forest University).
